What's better than a long holiday weekend? Celebrating a wedding on a long holiday weekend! This past Saturday I photographed the most beautiful marriage between Michele & Roger. These two are the nicest couple (with the most adorable daughter) and I knew from the moment we met that they would throw an epic party! Typically, I get many inquiries for the holiday weekends (Labor Day being one of the most popular). Everyone wants the extra days for guests to celebrate and relax, especially for family and friends who need to travel. I always feel a special connection to the couples that book me for these weekends, since I've limited myself to only one wedding per week. I like to be there 100% for each couple, so I feel that it's important to dedicate all of my energy to each wedding day.
Michele & Roger's gorgeous September day began with some getting ready pictures! Michele's sister Nicole went all out and completely decorated the hotel suite with a mimosa bar, dessert table, rose-gold Mrs. balloons, and even a custom hanger to showcase Michele's gown. This was probably the most beautifully decorated hotel suite that I've photographed! Although this was Michele & Roger's big day, their daughter Milana really stole the show! Of course she had to get her hair and makeup done just like Mom! After some time getting ready, it was off to the church!
Guests gathered at Saint Mary's in West Warwick, RI to celebrate the big occasion for these two–I only just realized that this church was established in 1844 and is the oldest Catholic Church in Rhode Island! Roger and his groomsmen met outside for some pictures before lining up for Michele's arrival. The church doors opened and our bride made her way into the beautiful, light-filled church. Their ceremony was perfect and they both beamed with happiness as they said 'I-Do', shared a couple of kisses, and were finally pronounced Mr. and Mrs. in front of their family and friends!
Our next destination? The Crown Plaza in Warwick, Rhode Island to celebrate their reception! This was my first time photographing a wedding at the Crown Plaza, and I absolutely loved their unique, modern ballroom! The brick walls, exposed metal beams, and glass ceiling gave their wedding reception a bold, contemporary feel. We found a field just outside of the reception room for some portraits with family, the bridal party, and their beautiful daughter! These two were so perfect in front of the camera, and were a joy to capture.
I'm so grateful that I can meet couples like Michele & Roger and photograph these special memories for them. With every wedding day, I know that couple is trusting me to capture their once-in-a-lifetime moments and I don't take a single opportunity for granted. For me, this is just one wedding day out of a super busy year. For them, this might be the greatest day of their life. A day they'll share with generations after them. A special memory that their daughter, Milana, might share with her children and grandchildren. Every wedding that I photograph is unique, special, and deserves to be photographed with the greatest attention to detail and care. I feel so incredibly lucky that Michele, Roger, and many other brides and grooms, have allowed me spend this very important day alongside them.
Congratulations again on your wedding day Michele & Roger! I wish you (& Milana) all of the happiness and love in the world. Thank you so much for letting me (and Will) capture these beautiful memories!
